Art classes are available for ages 6 to adult in a variety of styles of painting and drawing. We offer art instruction for everyone whether you're a beginner, hobbyist, college level or experienced artist. Our instructors are highly proficient and offer instruction in abstract, impressionist and realistic drawing, watercolor, oils and acrylics.

Summer Art Workshop with Annie Pais
6 Tuesdays, 3-5 pm. beginning the week of June 18th and ending July 23rd.
Ages 10-14
$250. includes all materials.


The class is limited to 6 students who are seriously in love with art! This group will explore drawing, sketchbooks, bookmaking, and painting with watercolor and acrylic. Workshop time in the studio with a small group- allows for maximum, individual, creative choice combined with offering professional techniques and encouraging group feedback and collaboration.

Art Classes with Jane Gravois
Discover and Create with the Visual Language of Artť. Explore the world of art and create 2 and 3-D projects using drawing, printmaking, painting, collage and sculpture techniques. Informational handout included with each class. Great for Home-Schooled families!

Jane is a self-employed artist/instructor who loves working with children.   She is certified in Childhood Education and Art K-12, was a home-school mom for many years and has taught art to children in many different venues, public and private.   She currently is the instructor for the Homeschool Art Program and the mobile Art Van Go program run by the Marion County Parks and Recreation Department.

Art Classes with Sherrie Pettigrew
Offering Art classes to students from Kindergarten and older. Classes include Painting, Pottery, Drawing, Asian Art, plus many other fine art techniques.
Classes will meet on Wednesdays at 9:00AM, 10:00AM, 4:00PM and 5:00PM

Ms. Pettigrew has been teaching art in Florida public schools for over thirty three years.   Ms. Pettigrew has been a strong voice in the Gainesville art community involved in workshops for teachers, students, and other artists while showing her work in the Gainesville area, Charlotte, North Carolina, and New York City, New York.   She has co produced two festivals, chaired on the board of the International Creativity Center, and was a co writer of the Harn Museum of Art’s ExplorAsia manual for teachers.   Ms. Pettigrew finds working with children refreshing. “I love to see the look on their face when it clicks and they understand an abstract concept.”

Creative Arts Cafe
Classes are offered long-term and set up to allow students to develop projects with enthusiastic encouragement and structured guidance. Class sessions are 4 week cycles and run all year round. If there is a holiday, class runs 5 weeks. WORKSHOPS are a one-time commitment, and usually held on weekends. We are flexible about the age range to fit your family's schedule. 10% sibling discount. GACA (Gainesville Association for the Creative Arts)
The Gainesville Association for the Creative Arts was founded in 1967 by parents and educators who wanted education in the arts to be available to all area children.  They recognized the positive relationship among education in the arts, academics, and self-esteem. In small workshops, usually 8 to 10 children, GACA creates a non-pressured atmosphere where creativity can flourish.   We offer programs in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer for Adults and children ages 3 to 18.

Programs are offered in the following disciplines: dance, art, music, and theater
Styles of Dance: Pre-ballet, ballet, hip-hop, movement, modern and jazz
