Early Steps Parent Education Group and Infant Toddler Playgroup
Project Social Communication: Parent Education and Infant Toddler Play Groups. North Central Early Steps is providing a new model of support and training to our families. Project Social Communication offers 8 weeks of Parent Education and corresponding Infant and Toddler Play Groups, in addition to
family centered support in the home. The groups are guided by two UF/North Central Early Steps contracted providers.
Parent Education Group The focus of the Parent Education Group is to provide families/caregivers information about how children communicate and how to respond to children in ways that encourage them to say more, and how to get conversations going during daily routines. There is time for discussion and questions concerning the ways children develop. We offer the workshops weekly and information is provided to families/caregivers through discussion, handouts, answering questions, modeling, and individual coaching.
Infant-Toddler Play Group The Infant-Toddler Play Group is designed to provide families/caregivers with the opportunity to apply what they have learned from the Parent Education Group. During the play group families and their child will have the opportunity to practice new skills under the guidance and coaching from our play group leaders.
