FFS hosts monthly events that provide families the opportunity to fish together in a safe and fun setting at the 6 heavily stocked "catching ponds" on the grounds of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences.   Anglers can expect to catch bluegill, sunshine bass, and channel catfish up to 10 lbs, and volunteers are on hand to help with baiting hooks and releasing fish.   There is a casting contest for the kids, where the winners have a chance to win prizes such as fishing poles and tackle boxes.   Loaner poles and tackle are provided for those that need it and the events are topped off by a free lunch and a prize raffle (also free), where numerous fishing related items are given to the kids.

Family Jam Night is designed to be a family-friendly opportunity for people of all ages to come and play our instruments with no strings attached.  No child is too young.  No adult is too old.  We even provide sticks.  It's only $10 per family or $5 per person.  This opportunity meets on the first Friday of each month from 6-8 pm.  There is plenty of unstructured free play time but we also coordinate a drumline clinic, drum circle, the Fastest Drummer Competition, and have a raffle for various give aways.
