Membership in the 2009 Gainesville Junior Golf Tour is open to all junior golfers age 8 to 18 years old who have completed the annual membership application.  The Tour not only challenges junior players to excel, it emphasizes good sportsmanship and proper golf etiquette.  The goal of the Tour is to provide a positive competitive environment that enables young golfers to improve their skill levels and become better individuals.  The tour is conducted on nine courses with one each week from June through the first week in August.  Officials recognized by the Florida State Golf Association conduct the tournaments in accordance with USGA standards.  Players are divided into five age divisions for both boys and girls.  Weekly winners are recognized and annual awards are also presented.

To further promote the game of golf and help develop players for the future, Ironwood specializes in teaching kids of all ages.   Ironwood has been one of the stops and a regional qualifier for the Drive, Chip, and Putt skills challenges -sponsored by THE GOLF CHANNEL for the past 7 years and is home to many junior golfers.   Ironwood has a year round Junior rate of only $5 for kids up to 17 years of age.   During the summers, we offer various Junior programs for those just getting acclimated to the golf course or even those Juniors aspiring to be the next Tiger Woods.   We have clubs for all different ages and heights as well as boys and girls sets for each size.   Golf lessons for children can be scheduled through the club pro.   Call the club for scheduling and fee information.

West End Golf Club offers several programs especially tailored to younger aspiring golfers.   Four one-hour classes are held on Saturday mornings.   The course supplies all of the clubs and golf balls.   These classes are designed especially for kids that have no prior golf experience.   Parents are welcome to come and participate with their kids.    The fee for this program is $30.00.
